During the development of digital multifunctional laboratory power supplies of the DP-P series, special emphasis was placed on versatility, high performance, precision and stability. In addition to the usual basic functions of such devices, such as precisely adjustable voltage and current values, overvoltage and overcurrent protection, and automatic switching between CC (constant current/current source) and CV (constant voltage/voltage source) operating modes, the DP-P series can be controlled via modern digital interfaces RS232, RS485, RS422 to set and record output values. The ARM architecture-based digital control loop provides fast response times and constant monitoring of output values, resulting in high stability and accuracy. Supporting the Modbus RTU protocol, the multifunctional laboratory power supply can be easily integrated into a new or existing infrastructure and interact with Labview, while it can also be operated completely independently via front panel controls.

High-quality components and a lot of experience in the development of laboratory and industrial power supplies enable compact dimensions and high performance. Smart cooling regulates the speed depending on the set output parameters and temperature, so that the laboratory power supply only reacts by increasing the speed when it is really needed. Up to 1.2kW of power is delivered by the DP-P series multifunctional laboratory power supplies from a 19″ 2U 1/2 width cabinet, which allows two units to be mounted side by side in a 3U rack (with adapter). In addition, laboratory power supplies of the DP-P series can be used in all cabinet sizes both rack-mounted and free-standing – the suitable mounting accessories for rack mounting are supplied free of charge with all units in 2U and 3U sizes. Suitable mounting accessories for two 19″ 2U 1/2 units in one rack can be ordered separately.

DP-P Series Multifunctional Laboratory Power Supplies Software Suite

Because the development of DP-P series multifunctional laboratory power supplies focused on high-performance laboratory applications with high demands on precision and automation, laboratory power supplies of this series are supplied with a comprehensive software suite for Window 10 & 11 that leaves almost nothing to be desired. Whether simple setting and monitoring of output values or programming of repeating complex voltage/current curves – everything can be done quickly and easily. The power supply unit can be connected via RS485, RS232 or RS422, and communication via Modbus RTU guarantees low latencies and reliable data transmission.

DP-P series power supplies are compatible with many optional AP series expansion modules, so you are no longer limited to the configuration you choose when ordering, but you can also expand certain functions at a later date using external modules. In addition, the AP series is constantly being expanded and maintained with new modules, so that you can also expand existing units in the future with new functions that we will introduce.

Currently, the following AP series expansion modules are compatible with DP-P series laboratory power supplies:

Model AP9: Combined reverse current protection (inductive and capacitive loads).
Depending on the maximum voltage and current, the module is manufactured in a 19″ 1U 1/2, 2U or 3U cabinet and protects your power supply unit against reverse currents, which can occur when operating with large capacitive or inductive loads. This means that you do not need an additional protective circuit between the power supply unit and your load, which reduces complexity enormously.

Some loads require a cleaner voltage than the power supply can deliver in the basic configuration, or the inverse, generate very strong interferences (e.g. by high-frequency current draw with very steep edges - square wave). This can influence the control of the power supply at high currents. For these cases we have developed the AP8 module which combines a three-stage EMC filter with a large fast capacitance to further stabilise the output voltage of the power supply in critical applications on the one hand and to protect the power supply from the influence of loads on the other. This combination guarantees a stable output voltage even under the highest load from complex high-frequency loads.

Equipped as standard with RS232, RS422 and RS485 with full Modbus RTU support, laboratory power supplies of the DP-P series can be quickly and effectively integrated into your existing infrastructure. A remote-sensing input, analogue status output (error/normal) and control input to control the output (on/off) are also available as standard.

Digital interfaces RS232, RS422 & RS485 (standard)

Equipped with RS232, RS422 and RS485 connections as standard, with full support for the Modbus RTU protocol, laboratory power supplies of the DP-P series allow both integration into existing infrastructures and the development of a new one. The open Modbus RTU protocol allows customised control solutions to be implemented quickly and effectively, so that nothing stands in the way of automation.

Remote-sensing input (standard)

The remote-sensing input is installed by default in all multifunctional laboratory power supply units of the DP-P series and allows the line losses between the power supply unit and the load to be compensated. The power supply unit can compensate for losses of up to 2V by measuring the voltage at the load and automatically counteracting it. This function is particularly useful for high currents of over 100A and/or particularly long cables with small diameters. Furthermore, the remote-sensing input is necessary for connecting modules of the AP series.
